Comforts : Squatter You own a few pieces of furniture, but if anyone comes over, they’ll probably have to sit on the floor. What you do have is scavenged, barely functional, and outdated. There’s a bare mattress on the floor, crates for a table, and a stolen folding chair.
Entertainments: Low You have a budget to cover some basics and enough to pay for a monthly subscription or two, all of it commercial-laden or low quality. You also can afford a few date nights and basic personal care. You have a subscription to a few trid shows and casual AR gaming sites with a vanilla avatar. Date night consists of a show at the local simsense theatre and dinner at the soy-noodle stand. You hang out at the local hole-in-the-wall club & bar with synthahol and recorded music. You make a monthly visit to the low-end salon.
Necessities: Low Your home has all four walls, a mostly watertight roof, and you even have a balcony. There’s room for you and a roommate. You have water and electricity for your place, although they are subject to rationing, so a backup generator and bottled water are a good idea. Wireless coverage is available but at a low signal rating. You don’t go hungry, but there isn’t much variety. Your in-home SPU is cheap but functional. You live in a small studio in a large block apartment building. There’s a garage to park your car. You eat soy nutria-bars or universal patties with flavor packets, you wear clothes from a second hand store or the sales rack at Kong Wal-Mart, and you do your laundry at a coin-op facility.
Neighborhood: Squatter A step up from the lawless chaos of the streets, this neighborhood has some (mostly) inhabitable buildings, some shops or markets (which probably deal in barter or certified cred only), and a larger gang to provide security. Of course, anyone walking the streets had better be armed, but chances are you won’t be killed just for your shoes. Police presence is minimal, although they will enter the area (heavily armed, of course) if there are major problems, such as high-profile serial killers. Residents tend to live crammed together in squatted buildings, but at least they have a roof and three or four walls. Garbage is collected by scavengers, or it accumulates in the alleys.
Security: Low You have decent locks, probably electric, which deter crimes of opportunity. Your building is secured by an agreement with a low-level street gang. If you lock your doors, you can sleep (relatively) safely at night.
Friendly Neighbors +1 The neighbors are nice enough that they always say hi, offer a soykaf, and eagerly lend a hand. They act friendly to the character and friends he introduces to them. The character can ask for simple favors from his neighbors, such as holding a package, giving a ride, or delivering a message. The target can say something he or she believes to be true, even if it is not. The subject may choose not to speak or to withhold information but cannot directly lie.
Alter Memory Catégorie: Manipulation, P/M: M Portée: LOS, Durée: P, Drain: (F/2) + 2, Notes: xxxx This spell allows the caster to add, alter, or erase a single memory. The net hits scored by the caster determine how detailed and complex the affected memory can be. Every (Force) months—or anytime a character is presented with evidence that the memory is false (gamemaster’s discretion)—the victim may roll a Willpower (only) Test; each hit reduces the hits on the caster’s original Spellcasting Test. If the spellcaster’s net hits are reduced to 0, the spell no longer affects the target and the memory returns.
Sterilize Catégorie: Manipulation, P/M: P Portée: LOS (A), Durée: I, Drain: (F/2) + 2, Notes: xxxx This area-effect spell kills bacteria and other microorganisms and destroys material such as skin flakes, stray hairs, and spilled blood. Organic material affected by this spell cannot be used as a material link (see p. 28). Because the spell does not affect biomaterial attached to a living being, it does not kill the various helpful and harmful microorganisms living inside a creature. Each hit scored by the caster inflicts a –1 dice pool modifier to any skill tests made to collect and use sterilized biomaterial for forensics or material link purposes. Shadowrunners often employ this spell to eliminate incriminating trace evidence, especially if blood has been spilled.
POUVOIRS
Kinesics III (1.50) Applies a +3 bonus for the adept when making or resisting Social skill tests. It also applies a +3 dice pool modifier to the adept on any Opposed Tests made to gauge the adept’s truthfulness or emotional state, including Judge Intention tests (p. 139), assensing for emotional state, and other magical and technological tests. Two adepts with Kinesics and within sight of each other can use a Complex Action to nonverbally communicate simple notions to each other, using body language alone. Only basic messages and emotional states can be conveyed: yes, no, bad idea, I don’t want to, I’m angry, look out behind you, and so on.
Improved Ability Con II (0.50) +3 Con Active Skill.
Multi-Tasking (0.50) Multi-tasking grants the ability to simultaneously process information from multiple senses. For example, an adept with this power could read data off multiple vid-screens and simultaneously hold a conference call over his commlink or hold a conversation while watching the trid, providing full attention to each. In game terms, Observe in Detail (p. 136, SR4) counts as a Free Action for the character. The adept is also hard to distract (for instance, they would suffer no modifiers in a crowded nightclub or an AR spam zone). Additionally, an adept with Multi-tasking gains two Free Actions per Initiative Pass when not directly involved in combat.
Commanding Voice (0.25) This power channels the adept’s magic into his voice to enhance the modulation and pitch, subliminally influencing the actions of any listeners. The adept takes a Complex Action to give a simple but forceful command (five words or less) to the target, making an Opposed Test with Leadership + Charisma against the target(s) Willpower + Leadership. If the adept succeeds in the test, the target uses his next action to either carry out the command or stands confused (gamemaster’s choice, but the more net hits achieved the more likely he will obey the adept’s command). Such commands carry no weight beyond the immediate impetus, and the affected characters will quickly reassert their wits, returning to their original course of action. If multiple individuals are targeted, use the largest dice pool among the defenders and add +1 dice per additional target (max. +5).
Commanding voice may only be used on metahumans who can directly hear and understand the adept’s words. It has no effect when the voice is amplified or broadcast via technological means (eg. wireless transmission, loudspeaker, etc). It is also less effective on subsequent uses against the same target. Apply a cumulative –2 dice pool penalty for each use within the preceding 24 hours.
Cool Resolve (0.25) Cool Resolve makes a character inhumanly self-assured and unflappable in social exchanges, whether these be delicate negotiations or an interrogator’s grilling. Each level of the power adds one die to the adept’s dice pool for Opposed Tests involving Social Active skills in which he is the target/defender.
